Travel information
The Netherlands is a small and densely populated country and has well-functioning public transport. Wherever you want to go in the Netherlands, you can travel easily and comfortably to your desired destination by train, bus, tram or metro.
Public transport
The city of Groningen has a direct railway connection with Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the travel time is about 2 hours. Several trains depart each hours from the Airport. For a personal itinerary please check www.ns.nl/en or check the website www.schiphol.nl/en/
Several local busses (Company Q-buzz) depart from the Main Railway Station in Groningen to the University Medical Center Groningen. The bus stop at the UMCG is situated at the Main Entrance of the Hospital. Plan your bus on the website for public transport.
By car
When approaching the city of Groningen by car, please follow the signs for UMCG.
Parking facilities are available in the P-Noord garage, located on Vrydemalaan and the P-Boterdiep garage, which also has an entrance on Vrydemalaan (both paid parking). Before you leave check Groningen Bereikbaar for actual traffic projects.
By plane
Groningen Airport Eelde has several direct flight connections to European cities.

From this airport you can easily reach for example London, Copenhagen or any other destination.
Groningen is a relatively small city. Most locations are within walking distance.
The Main Railway Station (Groningen) is situated at about 15 minutes walking distance from the UMCG
